The Alcoa Davenport Yield Improvement Team had two goals: yield improvement through reduction in internal rejections and improve employee engagement through kaizen and problem solving events. The team used process management and the Alcoa business system (an adaptation of the Toyota Business System tailored to Alcoa's processes) to drive improvement. The team reduced internal rejections by 20 percent and helped increase employee involvement by 100 percent..
