North Broward Medical Center strives to provide the community it serves with safe, quality healthcare. The team’s objective was to promote a culture of safety to eliminate the risk of medical errors and exceed performance measures for patient satisfaction, infections due to medical care, and medication safety.
The team followed the Florida Sterling criteria for performance excellence. Performance measures for patient identification, infection rate, and medication management exceeded goals. Through the redesign of work systems and process management, the organization experienced direct cost savings in excess of $200,000 and has truly transformed into a safer, high-quality healthcare facility.
