A project to increase capacity of in-circuit test station was launched at Fabrinet to increase capacity from 1,900 to 4,500 units per day and to reduce defects without additional operators and space. The team took a Six Sigma approach and used DMAIC to achieve the goal. The capacity increased to 43,000 units per day at a cost saving of $123,000. The overall impact of this project to the organization includes improved quality, lower cost, on-time delivery, and an overall increase in total customer satisfaction.
