Alcoa Aluminio S.A. — Soda Loss Connection

Type of Team: Improvement

The main objectives of this project were to reduce the soda loss, minimize the caustic levels in residue disposal area, and reduce the production cost. The team’s “connection methodology” is a homemade methodology based on Six Sigma concepts. Project savings was about $350,000/year and a reduction of 6.3 grams per liter of caustic concentration in residue disposal area.
