Type of Team: Lean Six Sigma
Women & Infants is a specialized service that realized a dramatic increase in patient volume that impacted patient care. The team’s objectives included improving the BJH strategic priorities of patient safety and financial health by improving patient safety and clinical outcomes, improving patient flow, and delivering care in a cost effective manner. The team utilized Lean Six Sigma techniques. The results included sentinel event prevention, elimination of patient bottlenecks, timely treatment of high acuity patients, safe management of increased patient volumes, and cost avoidance of $1.5 million.
