Boeing’s Production Drill Team used lean and quality tools in a workshop environment. Responding to ISO-14001 regulations, quality, and ergonomic issues, the team introduced 48 new, vacuum equipped templates for drilling holes on the C-17 Aft Fuselage. Reduced by 50 percent, these lightweight debris and oil mist collecting templates improved quality and ergonomics—at a cost savings of 20 percent.
