Location: MCC – 200E
Type of Team: Six Sigma
This is a Six Sigma project using DMAIC method targeting purchasing process optimization for engine bolts supplier selection. The main goal was to reduce the price/weight ratio called LPP (linear price performance). After a current situation analysis, the root case was identified by the use of statistical and quality tools. The final solution was determined by an economic behavior analysis. The team overcame by far the project goal, reducing total annual engine bolt cost by $1 million. The reduction of costs and variability had a great impact over the organizational performance metrics through the increase of quality indicators and profitability.
