Environmental Services Lead Time Improvement Project

A process improvement team employed the SGS Lean Projects Deployment Road Map to develop an improvement strategy to boost on-time delivery performance of an environmental laboratory located in Southern Ontario, Canada. The team employed several tools, such as value stream mapping, muda identification, and touch-time/queue-time analysis to scan for problems in the laboratory process flow. This was followed by root cause analysis and solutions development, including heijunka levelling and batch size reduction, to achieve sustainable breakthrough on-time delivery success, and thereby reducing operating costs by $450,000 USD per year.
